heya doods

I wouldnt mind doing a math elective next semester, as I'm considering changing my major next year (possibly from psychology to science/physics teaching)

so...it seems math would be beneificial either way (considering the amount of stats ill be doing if I continue with psych)

the question is peoples, how much of a bitch is MATH 135?...like it sez somewhere a 'good pass in 2u mathematics' in which I got 86 (by definition that sounds like a good pass)

BUT...

it also sez somewhere that I need band 6 in 2u maths...which i didnt get at all...so I guess MATH 130 is the way to go? or would I survive in 135 next sem?

any help/advice would be greatly appreciated :p

hm

for math 135 i think you need to have done either 4u maths; or got the grade e3 for 3u maths; or band 6 for 2u maths

for math 130 i think theres not much pre req as long as you've completed the 2u maths course
so it looks like you will be doing math 130 first go.

You should consider that lucky to be doing Math130 rather than 135.

math 130 will be doing 3u work + a small amount of complex numbers and matrices

math 135 will be doing a bit on complex numbers (not a great deal compared to 4u maths) and depending on whether you are taking night or day class, the calculus work will varie a bit

Just to clarify something - if you've done 4U, you can't / don't do MATH135. From what I've seen of MATH135, there is a bit of 4U maths but none of the "scary" 4U material, plus some other topics which aren't covered in high school, eg. modulo arithematics.

If you're serious about physics/teaching, I'd recommend MATH135. I know a fair few people doing physics, and many have completed at least MATH235 (and maybe MATH236) because they're prereqs for 300 level units. MATH130 will let you do 135. 135 will let you do 136. 136 will let you do 235. Doing more maths than you need to is a waste.

Maybe he means that you would look out of place with a lot of part-time students in business attire?

eh

you don't need much of your 4u when you do math133 (i assume it is a mix of math136 and advanced math135 stuff)

lecture notes aren't much use hahaa

and yes, math133 is hard. but not as hard as acst211.

doesn't need much 4u, however if you understand calculus well, and know a thing or two about vectors it may be helpful.

yea ur right flyin'....man i dont wanna do too much maths as required...i know if i change to phys next year, ill def need at least 2nd year maths (for which im scared)...so 135 will be in there, somewhere...
