I was just wondering, just how much does MATH1081 rely on MATH1231? Or does it not rely on some of the info on there at all.
I'm a first year undergrad studying Maths/Education.

Oh and also, are they hard?!

dont need any knowledge of math1231.
i did math1081 in first semester at the same time as math1141.
you don't even need math1131/1141 for math1081.

As above, most people take MATH1081 in sem 1 anyway as it's required for their program.

MATH1081 isn't hard - I took it in Semester 2, after I had a semester of year 1 maths under my belt so... it was kinda easier as I already figured out how maths was taught and how I should study for it.

Also MATH1081 and MATH1231 are different forms of maths. Very different.

If you're doing Maths/Education and you find MATH1081 and 1231 hard... reconsider if maths is for you, because second year maths... big, big, big step up.

If you like maths, do 1081 cos its a lot more interesting than 1231 (which will be mandatory anyway).

Otherwise its not necessary.
