They're really similar. I think the deal is if you have done MATH2901 you don't have to do ACTL2002 because MATH2901 is harder.

but I'm not 100% sure

They might also have different fees (at least for domestic students). Maths is in a special fees category (Band 5) which makes it cheaper. I think ACTL2002 is Band 3.

I've heard that math2901 + math2931 together cover all the content in actl2002, but they cover it in more depth and also some more stuff.
