Hi,

I'm sure this is a very easy question, I just don't know what to do since the highest power after I find the first derivative is 3 (so how do I find what x is basically...?)

The question is:
For y=3x^4 + 8x^3 - 48x^2 +1, find any stationary points and determine their nature.

So I find the first derivative, and I get 12x^3 + 24x^2 - 96, and then equate it to 0 to find the x values of the stationary points... but I don't know how to find x.

Thanks for any help!
