Hey, im doing a maths past paper, and came across a question thats killing my life. .just wandering if anyone can help me give me the answer, the question is

Dieter's grandmother was 42 years old when Dieter was born. His grandmother was three times his age when she retired.
How old was Dieter when his grandmother retired?

Let Dieter = x
Therefore, his grandmother's age is x+42.

Now, after a set number of years, his grandmother is 3x his age when she retires.

Therefore,

3 (Dieter's age) = x + 42

3x =x + 42
2x =42
x=21

Therefore, when Dieter was 21, his grandmother retired at the age of 63.

i hate how the board of studies questions. i mean the answer is much simpler than the actual question.

you find a question thats 2 paragraphs long and make you look for the answer lol
