hey

i havent posted here for ages but i was just wondering if I could get some advice from people who do medical science or science.

I got a main round offer of engineering/medical science in the main round and an offer of engineering/ science late round. I personally think engineering / science would interest me more but I dont know whether to change or not. I know that the uai cut off for science this year was only 81 and for med science it was 93. For those who do either of the courses, what can you tell me about them in terms of of interest? Ive got to make up mind by tommorow... at the moment i think i might change to science.

Id be happy to here of anyones opinions :)

my friend is in the same position...my advice is....

- Medical science is much more integrated and there are not many choices when it comes to units of studies....it doesn't offer much flexibility...but if you like a course that is straightforward then I recommend it
- Science is more flexible, you have so many choices when it comes to units of studies but it can get a bit conusing for some people who don't know what to do but the course offers more freedom for you to explore your interests whereas in medical science you are restricted to doing physics, biology, chem and maths in first year.

I would choose med science because i like a degree that is straightforward and specialised a bit more
my friend chose science cause she wants to do subjects that you can't do if you're doing med science

hope that helps a bit

thanks for the advice...
I was wondering whether its possible to do .. say a semester of medical science just to trial it out and then if i dont like it, switch to science. Is this possible and if so will that put me a semester behind in science? Are there any similarities between the two in terms of subjects?

firsy year they are quite similar, like chem, bio, math etc...so u could try it for a year and then change if u dont like it.....to change after a sem ud have to see if the course u wanted to transfer to has mid-yr entry
