The ladies were very nice and made me less nervous. It was funny because when i got there i saw a lady going off at a student and was a little worried, but it wasn't anything to do with the helper thing and in fact when that lady saw me she was nice and smiled and guided me to the PR section! (that student must have done something wrong! i think she was asking for a change of times for something and it couldnt be done).

And i was happy when i got the paper stuff too! because it probably means they will let me do the open day. I'll have to fill it out and send it tommorrow. Im curious to know if everyone got the paperwork or if the paperwork was the symbol of passing the final test. lol. hope it means a guarentee for work!

they told me about the train thing, that sounds very kewl!!! nothing beats talking about the campus area, sitting down on a groovy moving train and getting paid for it. and given my tutoring experience, im very good at rambling on for hours if i know what to talk about! :) (MJ, did they talk to you about how the train thing is more structured now, because they once had a train guide person end up going on about politics as he went past visitors? hahah, that would have been funny).

Haha, I just got my first job!! So the paperwork must be a sign of passing the final test James! I'm having my photo taken with some other students for Open Day. Its only going to take an hour, but they have to pay me for three - yay! Already bringing in the mulah! :D

Because of this, I've changed my mind: I love MQ!

this staff appointment form is complex. Just a few questions:

-With the 'bank authority form': i dont know what to put for the 'school/centre/office' bit (or to tick academic/general). I did all the other information, but that bit im a little unsure of :/

-'the casual general staff appointment form': I'm very confused about the bit about 'qualifications' all the way to 'should we send you pay advice to your..' bit (though im guessing i want to choose the 'home' bit). can someone explain that to me a bit more. the ladies said i didnt need to worry about a resume as that was the interview, but do we include a current tax form (do i have one?? :/) and a current banking authority? (is that the same as a bank statement?).

The tax file number declaration is fine.

any help will be greatly appreciated. I was going to finish it and send it today, but i might wait until tommorrow morning so i know i have everything down properly. furthermore (another question, sorry :) ) do we send it to the PR area once we have finished?

I left my bit of that blank, because I'm not sure of what the official department name is... it'll be the PR/Marketing Department, or something similar, that'll have to go in there.

As you guessed, you do have your stuff sent to your home: this is your pay slips and your group certificates. I left the resume stuff totally unchecked. Qualifications, I just put "HSC (2003)", but I don't think they really see us as 'qualified' in any particular way. Tax form is attached (becuase they gave it to you and you'll be giving it back at the same time), and the banking authoirty form is attached.

Yep.. Back to the same place we got it from. To either Dina or Michelle, I assume.

Hope that helped, Jamie!

oh! the tax form is the tax file number form that we got? if so, i get it now! I just realised then that the banking authority was that other sheet i filled in.

thanks steve. that definitely helped!! there are a few questions in the tax number form. but i think its all right (Yes Q8; Yes Q9 [about being Oz Resident and Claining some Threshold thing].. No for Q10 and Q11; Yes for Q12 [HeCs]and No Q13.. hope thats pretty much right). i actually might still send it early tommorrow, just to confirm everythings right.

James, you do want to claim the $6000 tax free threshold. If you dont tick 'yes', they will tax you more... but you get it back at the end of the financial year, so it doesnt make much difference. I ticked 'no' with my current employer regarding tax, and during the year I'm poor, but I get in excess of $2000 tax back.

So it doesnt really matter. if you want them to save for you, tick 'no', but if you want all your pay now (minus the correct tax of course) tick 'yes'.

If you already have a job you have ticked 'yes' for, you have to tick 'no', or else you'll have to pay the tax at the end of the year.

Basically, you get $6000 untaxed, per financial year. If you click yes, then they only tax you after you earn that (effectively... doesn't QUITE work like that, but effectively does). If you press no, then they tax every dollar you earn. So, if you tick 'yes' on two jobs, you'll get $12000 worht of tax-free, and have to pay tax on the $6000 youy weren't taxed on, at the end of the year

...that explanation got very convoluted very quickly.

..your Yes/No's sound right, though.

Ah, so it all went well? Suppressed yourself?

I want to do the train so much! I think it would be so much fun! And they pair you up for the day with a friend so you're not always alone :)

Apparently you do the train for like 2 rounds or something, which lasts for about 45 mins, and then you rotate. I listened in the interview :uhhuh::p

They told me it went for two hours straight, and then they put you on a different thing that doesnt require talking (because you've been talking non-stop for two hours).

Actually- each two-way trip is 45 hours, so 2 hours of talking is probably what you do before you change.

God I was tired today, they must think I'm a drug addict.
