if amy spent her entire allowance, she could afford only 8 candy bars and 8 comics a week. SHe could also just afford 10 candy bars and 4 comic books a week. the price of a candy bar is 50 cents. what is amys weekly allowance?

do i use linear equations?
man its been awhile..

1 candy bar = .5
1 comic = C

A(allowance) = .5 x 8 + 8C = .5 x 10 + 4C
4C = 1

.'. A = .5 x 10 + 1
= 6

I don't remember what linear equations is, but this seems to be the logical way to answer this question

N/A
10*B+4*C=8*(B+C) where C = 0.5. Hence solve for B.

thus, amy's allowance = 10*B+4*C=8*(B+C)

I just rearranged the equation .5 x 8 + 8C = .5 x 10 + 4C
