Hey guys,

Any ideas on what essay questions they might ask? Here are ones my teacher predicted:

WWI:
- Changing attitudes of soldiers + homefront
- Total war

Personality:
- Part I: Describe personal background + historical context (apparently it hasn't been asked in a while and 3 sig events has been asked past few years)

Germany:
- Impact TOV
- Rise of Nazi party
- Society + culture Nazi state
- Propaganda + terror + repression
- Role of army?

Cold War:
- Renewal and end of Cold War (maybe Reagan?)

Some Conflict in Europe essay questions that my teacher predicted:

• Why was Germany so successful in the European War up to the start of Operation Barbarossa ( you may have done this in your exam) (Asked in 2012 and 2007)
• How significant was the war in the air shaping the course of European War? ( Asked in 2014 and 2008)
• How significant were the Battle of Stalingrad and the Russian campaign in leading to the Allied victory in the European War. ( asked in 2010)

OR

• Evaluate the significance of ‘D’ Day and the liberation of France in bringing about the end of the conflict in Europe by 1945 ( asked in 2011)
• To what extent did the aims and strategies of the Axis powers shape the course of the European War? ( asked in 2013 and 2007)
• Assess the impact of Nazi racial policies on civilians during the European War (2010)
• To what extent was the impact of the war on civilians in great Britain equal to its impact on civilians in either Germany or the Soviet Union (2012, 2015)

for USA maybe something about the impact of the Depression on different social groups, or Republican economic policies or maybe domestic influences on foreign policy

I think historical context means the background of the personality. E.G. For Trotsky his political ideologies of enforcing socialism in one country were highly influenced from his political discontentment with the Tsar's autocratic rule. He was also educated by the Spentzers and was exposed to famous literary works on Communist influence.

Personal Predictions:

WWI:
Total War and/or attitudes either way I would be happy with either one. As long as it isn't recruitment or conscription that's good enough for me haha.

Option G Russia and Soviet Union:
Power Struggle and possibly Soviet Foreign policy as Soviet Foreign policy hasn't been asked since 2014.

Personality:
Background of personality or significant events of the personality's life.

Option C Indochina and USA:
Maybe a question on the impact of the War on Cambodia, or it could be about the Geneva Peace Agreement (fingers crossed!), I highly doubt they would do nationalism and Communist victory two years in a row. Unfortunately we will never know.

Good luck everyone!! : )

2017 had a question on Geneva Peace agreement, it'd be unlikely they would ask it again.

my predictions:
Indo:
-Strategies and tactics
-Khmer rouge

US:
-government intervention
-urbanisation

ai yaaaa so much modern content :confused2:
for wwi i did a quick check-
2017- Allied victory & German collapse 1918
2016- Impact of war on women's lives and experiences in Britain
2015- Attitudes to a quick victory on the Western Front
2014- Nature of trench warfare
2013- Impact of total war on civilians in Germany & Britain

so they might ask one on the roles of the big 3 (wilson, george and clemenceau) or maybe even strategies &tactics (verdun, somme and passchendaele)

Indochina - probs gonna be a direct/explicit question on Cambodia/Pol Pot seeing as though they always ask it but last year didn't have it

USA- Maybe a foreign policy question/growing urbanisation & industrialisation or impacts of great depression on different social groups

If it's Cambodia or Pol Pot I will be pretty happy with that! Or a Tet Offensive question (but that was asked in 2016), or Social, Economic, Political impacts up to 1964.

Big Three or Strategies/Tactics are pretty good too. Good thing for WWI you have the sources too.
