Write a 5-page feature article, about pausing and reflecting on that majority crap. I wrote my own perspective on the notion of RFTG, incorporating the theorists like Friedrich Zietzche and Jean Francois Lyotard and their theories into my arguement. I should go good for this section. I did have a killer short story prepared but it was incompatible with the "pausing, reflecting, majority" basis.

I thought it was Nietzche?

i wrote like 11 pages...got so into it. I set it at the Culturally Significant Dead White Males Convention 2004 - wilde, twain, donne, pope, cezanne, rubens, the old crowd. then sid vicious turned up being irreverent, telling them he was a dead white male same as them, and making the old fashioned authors and poets faint from his language and jumping around singing anarchy in the uk...:D and then he defenestrated himself. then derrida came in and explained that sid was postmodern cos he rejected everything they threw at him... then the organiser (a fat little man with a clipboard who turned out to be god despite oscar wilde complaining that it was a frightful cliche to have him there at all) told derrida that he wasn't on the list. derrida says of course i'm not, i've only been dead three weeks. :p eventually they realise they're at a convention and postmodernism breaks down conventions..then without any warning they get squashed by the monty python foot.

basically it made no sense whatsoever. so I should nail it.

or not. i think i made it a lot harder for myself by needing derrida to explain in a nutshell to these men exactly what postmodernism was. and it making no sense.

oh well. done! three down, only 4 to go. :(

i adapted this postmodern fable i did as an assessment and made the animals represent different schools of critical thought and pomo came out on top

i forget what that had to do with the power of individual thought, but i did relate it

I so misread that as "porno came out on top"

*laughs*

12 pages. It was a narrative about Dr Jim who one day was guilted into protesting by evil poorly photocopied Socialist newsletters and was sent to a re-education camp. This turned him into an office worker who spent all of his time around the watercooler talking about "That McNeal Show with the promiscuous female lawyer" (My tribute to Futurama :p) but eventually (plot hole) the brainwashing somehow failed and he rediscovered he was a doctor and stuff. Then the government started exiling protestors or "political dissidents" to Africa. He decided he didn't want to live in this country anymore so he got arrested and went there to help poor Africans in the self-declared humanitarian aid mission these protestors decided to set up in order to subside their guilt. Eventually he decided it was a shithole, went back to random country where he came from, got reeducated and lived happily ever after.

I'm angrier and more tired now than when I wrote in the exam. It wasn't as harsh in the exam as it appears here :p

I wrote about a guy in a chatroom online with a bunch of people debating the war in Iraq as a "global issue"... then him reflecting about the topic and deciding to ignore the whole pointless argument and getting off the computer and appreciating the local. "retreating" if you will =P Kinda lame, but it got the point across and allowed me to discuss issues and play with text formats *grins*

I&S: I wrote as a lecturer in a University speaking about the importance of avoiding the mainstream refering to how characters and composers 19th century literature were able to be different despite huge restrictions of society. Not hugely imaginative...

We had the crappiest teacher ever. She didn't even mention critical theories/theorists. So yesterday I discovered from these forums what we were supposed to be studying, researched it and aced it today. I used Lyotard (postmodernism) and also Michel Foukaut or something (post-structuralism.)

I love Nietchze and have read a fair bit of his philosophy but didn't even think about discussing Nihlism or Will to Power or anything like that *slaps head*

thanx :D oh well at least the examiner will be laughing when s/he puts a big fat 2/25 on my marking form.

and i was going to have a bit where I broke off the narrative midsentence and had a blank white space that just said "plot hole" and then keep going in the middle of another sentence ten lines later. but i couldn't work it in. :(

(Pomo) I wrote a short story. It was so unbelievably stupid. Basically I took some of the characters from my texts, and several philosophers, and threw them into, "The void that occurs when no one is reading the texts." But it wasn't very structured... at all... so I'm scared I'll lose marks for that. Oh well... IT'S OVER!

everyones sounds really good...ill be lucky to pass the creative section. creative for RFTG is hard coz it always ends up so cliche. i did a feature article pretending to be the son from 'the boat' who had read the shipping news and was reflecting on it. threw in some crap from philosophers Jean Paul Satre and Eric Hoffer and basically just wasted 12 pages.
hhhmmm oh well its over now :) :)

not in creative really, unless u count a very token reference to waiting for godot and monty python.

did u do speeches for critical study? ur creative just reminded me of socrates/goldman.

lol yeah... after i got out it reminded me of Socrates ;)

ermz... well i just sort of referred to a quick summary of Wilde's "Dorian Gray" & how Wilde was destroyed by society because he was a homosexual & predominately because "The Picture of Dorian Gray" is full of homoerotic relationships etc. Wilde was imprisoned 4 it n lost his writing credibility which is sad... he's n awesome writer, i really like him.

i also referred to the work of Edvard Munch (the Scream) & quickly discussed his views. i pretty much just said how society destroys people. then i concluded with stuff like "if i must die for revealing the truth, then shall i must" LOL :)

overall, i'm really flabbergasted with how i went.

Oh man. My story sucked with the force of a hundred Hoovers. I was writing for RFTG, and my piece was basically 8 pages of waffle revolving around a politician and his opinions on global governments and their effect on local communities. Or something. And then for some reason I had him trail off into all this crap about his childhood.

Meh. It was pretty trite and I don't imagine I'll get much for it. Oh well, it's done!

wrote a booklet about some slut who was reflecting about her past and how she stopped and thought about the thigns shed done and then from this she realised that she was a tool of society and had no sense of self etc and so left her husband and family (noting ADH) nad become a hooker/exotic dancer....
but it was phrased very well... you'd think that she was really in the 19th century = p
