I don't think it is that in-depth, perhaps you're over analysing it. I couldn't really find anything on the net about the cowboy, but I didn't really search that hard.

I rarely understand complicated spy type movies first time round. More than one twist loses me.

Must watch multiple times.

the Saw movies? i got it pretty much straight away, but apparently a lot of people were confused by the twists in the plot line as all 4 movies progress.
