QUestion: for an economy other than australia, explain how government development strategies have responded to the process of globalisation. Discuss the consequences of globalisation on the quality of life for this country.

Analysis : so, theres 2 parts and the first part is to be the major constituent of the oral presentation.

for the 1st part; explaining government development strategies. what does that mean?is it wot the government did from the results of globalisation( ie, free trade cause unemployment. the government as a result abandons free trade)? or is it wot did the government do to increase/decrease interaction with globalisation( ie, discuss APEC, TNCs, tariffs).
does this mean i dun need to analyse the advantages/disadvantages of globalisation, its impact and reasons for protection?

help! what do i need to write about for the first part.. ( dun worri about the second part for now)

ok, you've really gotta look at the question as a whole to answer it.

clearly, they want you to show how south korea has globalised and what effects this has had on their country, both the positive and the negative.

the actions of the government that result in the country's globalisation are the govt's response to the world phenomenon of globalisation. so maybe allowing in FDI, signing free trade agreements, etc.

then, after you've done this, explain how the government, through its policies ie regulations, reforms, etc has dealt with the problems associated with globalisation. in other words, its both what the govt has done to encourage globalisation and what the govt is doing to overcome the porblems associated with globalisation.

the next part is easier; simply look at human development figures before globalisation hit them and compare them to now.

hope that helps.
