Erk. What a fine mess of bitching and debate I've created.
Well thanks for the support and the advice to those of you who supplied it :). Especially to you sparkles xx.

And Anthony, I am NOT sitting on my arse doing nothing. Do NOT tell me this is what I'm doing. I haven't been bitching about how hard it is to do the HSC with these disorders, I discribed my situation and asked for advice. I was having a hard time and so yeah, my post had a fair bit of emotion attached to it. I don't recall saying that it was so much harder for me than everyone else. I wouldn't have said that. I was mostly just after advice regarding how I fill out the appeal forms and what I would need to supply to back them up etc. I screwed up and now I'm trying to fix it. You don't know me, you clearly don't understand what you're talking about and judging me on, so really, I think you should keep your uninformed opinions to yourself :).
I'm sure "everyone" is stressed, but wow, "still they get their assignments in on time" is a pretty big generalisation to make.
Do not tell I'm stressing over nothing. Not until you've worked flat out for three hours and still haven't finished the first section of your assessment because you have to stop every two minutes and press your wrist into the desk, press unnecissary keys on the keyboard until it feels ok again, or write with your pen perfectly straight ensuring that you're writing with the middle point of the ball exactly, having to stop at every chance to scribble hard on the side of your page amognst a million other compulsions you have to act out on. Mixed in with everything else, yeah, it kinda gets in the way of my school work sometimes.
So sorry for that 'complaint' but I hope it demonstrated my point. It isn't "nothing". It's probably the most prominant part of my life and life is not just nothing.

Anyway, I visited my GP, I got a certificate to say I had one condition which has worsened recently and is pretty constant anyway but I can't get certificates for the ones I mentioned earlier from him because the specialist who diagnosed me hasn't sent back any information regarding me to my GP since like 2004! So I'm going to have to wait a while for those. I asked for a referal to someone else too since I've stopped seeing that guy but I have to wait until my GP has spoken to him even to get THAT. Gosh.

It'll work itself out anyway. Thanks guys :)
Glad youre getting things sorted out.

Dont listen to insensitive people like anthony.

Please make sure you look after yourself too. :)

How do you know that you have the disorders?
I've got anxiety disorder as well but I don't think that's teribble enough to get my appeal approved

I watched a show on OCD and how people go to treatment places for a week or 2 weeks..and they have people who help you slowly get over your habits..by the end of the 'camp' its meant to work wonders..

maybe you should look into something like that..sorry i'm being so general about this...

*whispers* i'm not meant to be on the computer

not to be overly cliche or anything but don't give up! firstly, i would really strongly encourage you to go through with the appeal process. believe it or not, your school probably wants to pass the appeal, especially if they are aware of how hard you are working. i had to go through tons of appeals when i got really sick last year, and i was constantly worrying that they would think i was trying to get out of work. but they were really good about it, and it helps a lot if you have a doctors certificate.

also it sounds as if you have a really perfectionistic (is that a word) personality. the thing i have learnt is that the people who do really well are the ones that get things done efficiently, even if that compromises quality somewhat. you might want to start changing the way you study so you dont end up with this kind of thing happening again next term and maybe you might even get out of the library at lunch time :)

I've been disgnosed with them and a few other related things by a psychiatrist.
There's different levels and types of anxiety disorders. OCD for instance is supposed to be an anxiety disorder as well. The OCD is what is really stressing me and feeding into my 'general anxiety disorder' which ends up with me breaking down completely sometimes. Erk. They all just feed into each other and mess me up. (This is assuming that's what's even going on with me, and sometimes I do wonder *eye rolling*)
I dunno, they all have weird, crazy names and I get sick of hearing it so I try not to put too much thought into that part of it :p.
But basically, they end up in me completey breaking down and taking agggges to do the work.
I have to draw up detailed plans for all my assessments before I do anything, which means I end up spending more time planning than actually DOING it! It's stupid but I can't work unless I do this first. Erk.
A lot of this stuff had been a lot better for a while but it all came back pretty hard, really suddenly and all at once. :s
Anyway... there's a few reasons why I wanted to appeal...

Oooo. *Smack!* Off the computer!! :p
That sounds really, really, really scary aha.
I've had OCD all my life and only just got a diagnosis last year when I was reading something about a person with OCD and realised they were just like me. I'd been trying to explain what I was doing for years to my parents and stuff aha, I never realised it was anything like that. So as a result I've only just started treatment like two weeks ago... HSC isn't a great time to challenge OCD either aha. :p
Thanks for the info' though and I hope you didn't get caught on the computer lol. :p :)

Thanks :) I think that's what I'll have to try and do... aim a little for more for quantity rather than absolute quality aha. It's just a bit hard for me to figure out a balance just yet. I'll give it a shot though for sure! :)
I'll figure it out :p.

during my HSC, i always thought that the HSC was the biggest thing i will ever do in my life and once i finished it, uni would be a breeze.

well guess what.
uni is like the HSC every 14 weeks, instead of an entire year.

the hsc is the biggest obstacle that you will do in your life, so far.
until uni comes, which will be even harder work.
until you start working, which will be even stressful (i imagine).

so the point is- you've got to ADAPT to working harder.

We're all in this together :)

Last year I was so stressed (I'm a huge perfectionist) and by the end of the year i just lost it. I didnt end up finishing my English paper 1 cause i freaked out cause i was a few minutes over time on one section and i was in the exam room and i couldnt stop crying so i just left and i got a part mark...
In hindsight i'm glad this hapened cause the same thing could so easily happen this year. But because of that i've learnt to control myself a bit better and worked out other wasy with dealing with stress etc.

So far this year i have been unusually very relaxed. (Only last week did a japanese speaking go unexpectedly bad but that was the first time i've cried all year.) I think i owe this to keeping things in perspective. I'm not a really social person but a few times out have been just what i needed and the other thing was when i wanted to have a break i just did. If you have 5 or 6 assessments and your working overtime on all of them, just one afernoon or day even i say "screw it i've had enough" and i just sleep, read reax etc. and when i go back to it i get more done and more effectively. Once your overtired you have to work twice as hard to get the same result.

Don't stress (or do your best to keep it under control) and Keep this whole Hsc bizzo in perspective!!!

(hehe look at those little ppl driving to work each day, they did their hsc once too, and now they have completely different lives..)

I'm glad you are getting treatment for it..I remember when i was going through some other things a 'side effect' you could say, was a little ocd...It really does burden ones life quite a bit and i was always so angry and upset that i couldn't do anything right and it took so long. But as my other 'issues' left, so did the ocd..

So i can understand how fustrating things are for you...and i hope all goes well for you *hugs*

ps...lol yes i didn't get caught :p

Uni's pretty bludgy! People I know from 2nd and 3rd year just play pool.
and this is from someone doing med? lol. I heard that first semester has been blissful so far for med students. i think they are just trying to settle you guys down before it gets to the crunch time!
But I'm finding my course a bit bludgy too.

Jesykka, don't give up you WILL get through this. i went through the stages of thinking maybe-i-should-repeat-yr-12-because-I'm-hopeless attitude, but you will comeout the other side. don't give up! :)

this is a no-brainer. go to the doctor that referred you to the specialist for your dr's certificate. This puts you in the clear. it is a good idea to pursue the issue further, let teachers know, speak to school councilor, remember the HSC is only a game. Teachers have heard everything, taught pregnant kids or kids whose parents are drug addicts. They have seen it all before and I hope want to help or dont deserve the money they get.

I only had 1 subject where we were constantly given work we had to do - Ancient History (apart from assessments/study)........I just think some schools/teachers overdo it with the whole homework thing. The homework we got for Ancient in no way helped us for our assessments and for the HSC Exam.

I'm sure Uni will easily outweigh this :p

is OCD a form of autism that occurs at different stages of ur life? i know a person with OCD who has this thing where he needs to wash his hands like 5 timesto be satisfied of being clean. maybe u shouldnt worry about OCD, maybe just resist for 1year?
