I don't think you should drop it, i would just stay with it.. I'm pretty sure that he can't give you a 0, just get a doctors certificate and you should be able to retake it.. Also year 11 doesn't count towards anything so it doesn't really matter as much

If you really don't think you should do two unit but you know you can do general, then maybe you should drop to general and not drop maths all together.

If you want to do business/commerce/economics, you may need 2unit (depending where you go)
and anyway if you don't, i'm sure in those degrees, there will be statistics and stuff (i'm sure they do that in general), maybe it may be a good option for you.

If you have a careers councilor, maybe you should go see him/her

Your teacher sounds like a fuckwit

I know thats pretty rude but what he is doing is uncalled for
Hey, it's not the teachers that he didn't turn up for the exam. You guys have got to understand that a doctors certificate does not immediately cover your ass. A doctors certificate means absolutely NOTHING. They just give them away. "ohh, I broke my toenail" --> a doctor will give you a certificate, give you a sick day off work or whatever else.

Luckly they treat things more seriously at university.

Ok so I'd like some of you who have a good grasp on the BOS year 11-12 system to answer...
Well I'm not particularly liking Maths Adv. and its crossed my mind a few times to drop it completely. Today I had a test worth 15% but i was absent cause im sick, my mum talked to my teacher (who happens to be the head of maths) and he wasen't negotiable and is giving me a 0. So tomorrow when i go to school I'm more then likely going to drop maths all together as I am doing 12 units and you only need 10 yes??
So what I'm really asking you guys is can i 'legally' have 10 units in year 11?
and will not doing any form of maths effect my chances of getting into University particularly if i want to do a degree in the way of commerce/business/economics?
also when I am in uni will i struggle on the maths side if I haven't done maths in yr11-12?

Thankyou for reading and I hope you can answer my questions :)

Doug003.
Yes you will. Being a newb at maths in a business degree really limits your majors. I know someone that did general maths at school and hates maths and he is majoring in marketing and management. Basically, the arts of a business degree. I am fairly sure it is pretty useless degree to have.

If you fill out a valid illness/misadventure form, they cannot give you a zero.
