i reckon its more a changing perspective than self
ive always thought that, but hey, the AOS is changing self.
the most obvious example of change is through maturity and self discovery, which are basically intertwined - meaning as she slowly develops in maturity/age, she begins to learn more and more about herself and her environment - who she is. Like at the beginning, she doesnt understand why the teacher payed her out, cos she was only young, but we all kno its coz she was black.
There are a lot of things like these u can use as evidence from the book, but the main idea is that sally changed from being ignorant and acceptant of her culture, to becoming involved and determined to open herself up to greater knowledge of her place, while also providing a catalyst for change in her mum, nan and to an extent, arthur.
