its not the translation that gets me, rather practising the very notion japanese

...and the majority of her songs differ quite a lot from the japanese=english versions. ex Hikari and Simple and Clean.

I disagree - I listened to the English version of Simple and Clean last night, and it was quite similar to the J version. The J one "sounds" a lot more complicated, but it is a relatively close translation

But you just compared Simple and Clean (English version) to Hikari (Japanese version) - how can you tell that there is any difference? They are different songs :p (And yes, I saw the English lyrics under Hikari also).
