Re: University of New South Wales OR Notre Dame

well politik it depends on your definition of a real university. if it does not reach to public unversity standards offering csp places, then notre dame is not a real uni.

but if real by the basis of awarding of degrees, then notre dame i think does do that. however, you must consider that it will not be as well recognised even as a degree from one of the less well-recognised universities.

and yes the obvious choice would be unsw if you want your degree recognised. the only reason to choose notre dame over unsw would be something that unsw doesnt offer that notre dame does.

so make your decision carefully

Re: University of New South Wales OR Notre Dame

some speaker came from notre dame to talk bout its uni, from memory, basically its a private uni so they got limited of space for students, they got another campus out in WA i think? and one in england. imo i'd choose UNSW, since notre dam doesnt really have a wide range courses available.
pay a visit to the notre dam and take a tour there

Re: University of New South Wales OR Notre Dame

UNSW probably has quite a good drama program, I think. (There are lots of NIDA people there, that is why I think this.) The School of Ed is definitely sub-par, though. But as I said previously, there is nothing to stop you doing your BA in drama at UNSW and then a Dip.Ed 9B Ed, M teach, or some such thing at Notre Dame. Just make sure that you have enough of the right subjects to make sure that your BA meets the pre-service teaching training requirements of the NSW Institute of Teachers.

Just like I was told that ACU wasn't a 'real' uni  I have really enjoyed my time there, and I think I am very equipped for my career.

It's all about personal preference. Personally, I went for somewhere that wasn't going to be daunting (we only have about 2600 people at Strathfield) and focused on social justice and ethics. When I visited the campus I knew that it was where I wanted to spend the next 4 years of my life.

It's a good idea to read up on the courses, what they offer you and what you're interested in. I didn't get many electives but I didn't mind that because I knew everything I was learning would be important for my career :)

I suppose that you would have to quality as a teacher and then get some experience.

What is an educational consultant anyway and why would one want to be one?

The notre dame teaching cousre is fairly new as 2007 I think was the first year to start it. In fact, the teaching cousre hasnt been recoginsed by the edcu dep yet. Also, it may be 5 stars, but thats only based on other courses through the uni.
Also, with Notre Dame, there is no HECS, so it will be harder to pay Uni fees.
I encouage everyone doing teaching/ uni cousres read up on them FIRST!
