Hello!

Our English class was given an assessment task that is due by this Thursday regarding Ted Hughes' poetry. As I pretty much have been away for ~4 English lessons due to extra activities, I was unable to catch up with the rest of my class.

The question is:
'Poetry is a powerful expression of human experience. Explore how this idea is represented in two poems you have studied in class.'

Firstly, I don't quite understand the question. Is it asking how the poems relate to/are a metaphor of humans?
Secondly, my two choices (because they are the easiest :D) are 'Hawk Roosting' and 'The Jaguar'. Are there any other poems by Ted Hughes that can be analysed more easily?

Any ideas/pointers are appreciated!

'Poetry is a powerful expression of human experience. Explore how this idea is represented in two poems you have studied in class.'

- Powerful expression - a representation of, portraying, etc.
- Human Experience - refers to themes/ideas that are related to the experiences of humankind. I.e. Journeys, love, change, etc.

To explore an idea, composers of poems will obviously use language and poetic techniques.

E.g. The overall journey can be represented by an extended metaphor.

Themes, Techniques, Explain, Effect and Link back to the question.
