O-CAMP 2004
The best way to start at UWS

Campbelltown Campus
Bankstown Campus
Monday-Tuesday
23rd -24th February

UNI STARTS NOW.

Your time at uni could be the most influential experience of your life, and
you want to make the most of it right from the beginning.

Before lectures begin, before all the official orientation sessions given by
the academics and administration, the O-Camp is put on by uni students to
give you the inside running on what uni life is all about and to let you
meet heaps of other new students.

Second and third years will tell you about their experience of starting uni,
what works and what to avoid. You will be able to hear what your course is
like from people actually doing it. Youll meet the students who organize
all the activities on campus, so that from day one youll know whos in
the
know, whats happening, and what groups you can join.

There will be a tour of the campusXincluding the library and the IT
labsXand
opportunities to hear about all the services the uni administration offers.

There will be games and activities as well as plenty of free time to allow
you to mingle or just chill out.

THE VENUE

The camp will start in the bar complex on the Campbelltown campus. After
lunch we shall split into Bankstown and Campbelltown groups to do campus
tours, and then meet again at the bar complex on the Bankstown campus. Both
complexes provide a large open space equipped with kitchen, showers, pool
and table tennis tables and juke box, and there are plenty of sports
facilities nearby. Mattresses will be provided.
You will need to bring:
sleeping bag or equivalent
pillow
towel.

COST

The O-Camp is basically free. The Campbelltown and Bankstown Students
Association and the MSRA are providing the venue and mealsXlunch and dinner
on Monday, breakfast and lunch on Tuesday. (This is your student fee at
work for you.)
If you want munchies and drinks outside of meal times, you can buy them from
the food outlets and vending machines on campus.

HOW AND WHEN TO GET THERE

The uni bar is at the far end of the campus, perched up on top of the hill
overlooking the oval. There is plenty of parking available nearby. If you
are not coming by car, we can meet you at Macarthur station (tick the box on
the form).
Please arrive at about 9.30 so that we can get things started by 10.
If you cant make the whole camp, its OK to come to just part of it.
However, if youre going to come late, please let us know.
The O-Camp should finish at the Bankstown campus between 3 and 4 on Tuesday
afternoon.
