At ngo and sons there are five different levels which determines the difficulty and pace (hardest and fastest to easiest and slowest):
1.specialist
2.accelerated
3.advanced
4.intermediate
5.fundamental
the accelerated class accelerates kids regardless of whether they do accelerated maths at school. it aims to get them ahead and makes them practice rigorous qs that are much harder than school exams. im pre sure the accelerated class is like a few terms- a year ahead of school.
that's many streams to be honest for a tutoring school. probably the only tutoring school has got so many different streams in Sydney.

Wait is the homework booklet the booklet given in class that you do?
the homework booklet is the booklet that contains all the homework questions for the topic - idk abt the other classes but they don't do it anymore. They now give booklets for each lesson that contains the lesson notes, class/tutorial questions and the homework questions that are to be completed for that week, so the whole topic hw questions aren't in a single booklet anymore.

Wait so the single booklet they give to students is all that they have to complete for the week? Sorry my first ever ngo lesson was yesterday and I'm surprised by the little amount of homework I was given.

the homework booklet was just a single booklet containing all the homework questions for that topic. usually the teacher would tell you which questions to do at the end of the lesson. but instead, now that they give out the lesson booklets, the homework questions in the booklet are the questions you complete for the specific week. in the next lesson you get a new lesson booklet, with a new set of hw q's to complete for the week. usually the hw is small for the first lesson since its like a new topic.

it kind of varies on the topic as well and the teacher because they assign you which questions to do from the hw set since there can be alot of hw questions for the week. so there isn't really a fixed amount of hw you do it just varies on the topic and the teacher, but the amount of hw questions you get also sometimes varies so basically everything varies - kinda shit explaination my bad 😭

Should I just ask to be set into the yr 10 accelerated? Or should I risk yr 11 accelerated exam?

That’s good. But from yr10 there is also a specialist class. Is yr11 advanced class harder than yr10 specialist class?
Btw, are you very ahead, just wondering like you have already self taught yr10 content already ?

I accelerate at school so I had a decent grasp of yr 10 content last yr

No specialist is probably way harder from accounts in this forum

You can probably do both. Yr10 specialist and yr11 advanced. If class time doesn’t clash.
How many yr10 classes do they run this yr including focus class acc classes and slow class

nah 2 is too much if im being honest, I got 2 other tutors on the same day im around in sydney so unfortunately it will be either yr 10 spec/acc or I go into one of those 'advanced' yr 11 classes (Im just scared if its too slow)
