If you really desperately want to do nursing next year, theres Nursing at Hawkesbury campus. Sure, its a bit more travel, but its exactly the same course, with a cut off of 60.

Anyhows, the UMAT is designed exactly for that purpose, even for people who get high UAI. For instance, [this is a real e.g.] to get accepted into the uni of melbourne, the UAI is not as important as your UMAT mark, especially section 2. My cousin actually got 97 uai last year, but because she scored the top bands in UMAT she was accepted on first basis by uni of melb and unsw.

Though one thing for sure is that, in the field of medicine/health, a high mark does not count for how a doctor is able to understand his/her patient.

supposedly, she didn't do the UMAT. she got a 99.9+ UAI and got into the sci-med degree at USyd. to enter medicine (the latter part of the degree) she will have to get a WAM of 80+ and pass the GAMSAT/interview.

Marks in the 70's generally equates to a 60's UAI. UAI represents a rank, not a score, and marks in the 70's don't mean UAI's in the 70's. Marks in the low 80's represents a UAI in the 70's.

I got all my marks in the 70's, one in the 60's and my uai is 70.4

its true, back to where it started, its wrong to determine someone's intelligence by this stupid number called a UAI. just because you got a uai of 99.90, doesn't make you the smartest that exist....everyone has their own way of shining. the hsc is too overrated.

Stop stressing over it. You can't change your marks now, so focus on the shortest way into Nursing.

Hey me+you=happy, dont stress too much. UWS is known for letting people in to courses, even when they have uai's below the cut-off. You could always write a letter to them stating your case and your passion for nursing, and see what happens from there. What you do have to pray for is that the cut-offs dont go up sicne they are introducing a medical school and that usually makes the uni more popular. But anyway, as i said, dont worry too much. My brother got in the 50s (he claims 80s) and he got into a course which required 60s. It depends on the popularity of the course. I hope you get into which ever course you want to. Goodluck!

Since I am doing medicine at USydney and have had a distinction average so far, that is a debatable point.

I plan to do specialise in Orthopaedics anyway. You don't need much of a bedside manner when you are replacing a knee or doing an arthroscopic cruciate reconstruction.

Your a female, you probably wont make it. Besides if your profile is correct, and you are doing med at usyd, then a D average isn't that crash hot since you're only doing med sci or a bsc.

Nope, just as long as your RET is higher then your UAI you'll still get the extra marks.

UWS cut-offs will never go below 60, it will stay on 60 even with vacancies.

With the Nursing at UWS Hawkesbury it is 60 and as far as I know RET works on 2005 Cut offs, so if your RET is 60, you still should be able to get into Nursing at Hawkesbury... But as someone said, it maybe further to travel but beggers can't be choosers.

You could also ring up the Contact Centre people and talk to them about it.

Cut offs for nursing at Hawkesbury wont change much, due to its location. Its not the most popular campus in the world.
