Officeworks Group Interview->Phone Interview

haha its me again... got rejected for the toys r us position after the group interview... oh well... just received an email from coles group for a Officeworks Group Interview for the new store opening in Castle Hill (yep... right next to toys r us)...

it said on the email that it will be team based activities... anyone had group interviews with coles group before... specifically officeworks? what should i expect?

i reckon i failed the toys r us position all because of the question "why do you want to work at toys r us?"... how could i answer this question for officeworks if it comes up?

*i did a group interview for officeworks during march.
you sit in tables of about 8-10 and you take it in turns telling everyone your <work related> experiences. But you're supposed to ignore the people standing behind the group marking what you say.
Then after that you watch a power point presentation that "sells" the job to you including all the lovely benifits - reallly the only good one is the % discount on all major stores i.e. coles, harris technology, officeworks, etc.
After that you are given a hypothetical situation i.e. chemical spill on the floor, shop theif, someone needed assistance etc (theres about 6 different problems). Then you have to rank them in order of which ones you would solve first.
To be honest its a pretty simple interview, just be yourself, relax and make sure you say something.

PS - i didnt get the job because i wanted 8 hours per week, but the lady at coles recruitment had failed to tell me the minimum hours work`for this store is 15hrs *grumbles*

PPS - single interview is a little different, pm me about that if needed

PM me if you want any more info. I dont closely watch over threads.
hope this helps

no worries, be yourselfand think literally. They just want to see you interact with people. Some people there couldnt say there own name let alone hold a conversation. Just think if you are them, what would you be looking for in a potential officeworks employee <hint read the quote above :p >

update on my interview!!! i had it yesterday and i thought i would have no chance cos they are interviewing 90 people and only hiring about 24... and there were 2 women in my group that knew each other so they kept talking in the in between activities and i felt that it may be rude to interrupt their convo so it made me look bad by not interacting with other people... i really thought i had no chance...

got the email today that i was successful for the group interview and is now short-listed for the final job matching selection and second interview process!!! soo excitied!!! really want the job!!! as it will be my first if i get it!!

thnx for the help everyone!!! i guess it really paid off!!

Bump... just got the phone call from Officeworks, because they are rushing to open the new store, they aren't conducting face to face interviews, instead its going to be a phone interview... what do the ask in a phone interview? i guess its similar to a face to face one but im still a bit nervous... anyone got any tips?
