if we get asked about the role of the optimates and populares in the exam, would we need to cover after the civil war or after caesar's assassination?
the reason i say this is because caesar pretty much defeated the optimates in the civil war and the only role they played after that was assassinating him...
and afterwards it seems to be a struggle between the republicans and caesarians and then just a struggle within the caesarians (antony and octavian)...
or would you interpret the republicans as optimates and caesarians as populares and stop after their defeat at phillipi or when sextus was defeated?
