Hey everyone, any one want to offer me any help on this prac we need to do. Its assesable.

We need to outline a prac to investigate the corrosion of iron and an identified type of steel. Any resources or advice would be very helpful. Thanking you in advance.

This might be a bit simple...

Get iron nails and steel nails/rivots (stainless and standard) and compare the rate of corrosion in

1. water
2. NaCl solution

Variable - modify concentrations of NaCl solution

Place all in test tubes exposing all the surface area to water/NaCl

Leave for a few days/weeks maybe?

Maybe taking initial masses of the steel/iron could be a good idea and compare to mass afterwards...

definitely test on pure iron, then stainless steel and then an other type (or two types) of carbon containing steels... maybe structural and mild...
