Your program plan should already take gen eds into account.

The 144 CP includes the 12units Gened. I suggest you find a way to fit those geneds in, even if it means you have to skip a subject or two - at least you'll be able to graduate.

As for going over the limit, you are not supposed to, but in the case that you do, I think you must pay full fees to the uni for the subjects in question, as they are not covered by HECS, and it becomes very expensive, very quickly.

Taking summer/winter geneds still counts towards the limit.

Perhaps you'd like to post up your plan so we can see whats going on, along with the CPA stuff.

If your on hecs/csp read below
(Quick Summary: If your hecs/csp your covered for SEVEN (7) YEARS full-time study (apparently))

From the Australian Government, Going to Uni Website

What is the Student Learning Entitlement?

If you are an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or the holder of a permanent visa, you will receive a Student Learning Entitlement (SLE), providing you with access to seven years of equivalent full-time study in a Commonwealth supported place.

Dude, you only need to do 7 finance subjects to satisfy a co-major, and you have 8

Drop one finance and that gives you your 6UOC for gened
