well i do have Christmas day and 27th as public holiday

but you don't get Boxing Day as a special rate day, it's only sunday rate. I am working that day too

I'm working every one of those days. I'm working every day except xmas for the next few weeks. Unfortunately, I'm working for my parents, so penalty rates don't apply

wow i didnt know near years day holiday was on the monday.. fancy that
we are closed on boxing day.. im working on monday but not tuesday next week... new years day we are closed too but i will most likely work on the monday because i usually get rostered
i wish christmas/new years fell on weekends more often lol..

I get christmas day and boxing day holidays on Mon and Tues. Same with New Years Day...holiday for that on Mon. It's great but at the same time could do with the money...damn.

you DO get paid overtime on new years day. Below are the official NSW public holidays over the coming few weeks...

Christmas Day: Saturday, 25 December
Boxing Day: Monday, 27 December
Additional Holiday: Tuesday, 28 December
New Year's Day: Saturday, 1 January
Additional Holiday: Monday, 3 January
Australia Day: Wednesday, 26 January

New Years Day is double time and a half - my store isn't open though.

Monday and Tuesday (Xmas and Boxing days holidays) are both at double and a half as well.
And the Monday (New years holiday) is double time and a half.

However, now that you have mentioned Boxing day is at normal Sunday rate then I am now but it would be pretty stupid if there was no penalty rate for boxing day - even if it IS a Sunday. my store's closed all Xmas weekend anyway so it doesn't bother me.

the normal sunday rates apply on boxing day...and yes it sucks but the holiday is carried forward on to the monday so if you're working then its a good bonus

The Monday is the public holiday for Xmas Day because it falls on Saturday.
Therefore, Xmas day must have a public holiday on a Weekday and Boxing Day must also have a public holiday on a weekday as it falls on a weekend also.

Mate...I know the facts thank you.

Because Christmas day falls on a weekend, it has to have a public holiday the following Weekday and because Boxing Day falls on a weekend, it has to have a public holiday the following Weekday, respectively.

So in conclusion,

Monday is Xmas Day Holiday.
Tuesday is Boxing Day Holiday.

i have to work tomorrow (sunday) - no penalty rates... (i'm full time on salary though... no one at my workplace gets extra on sunday)... and mon and tues i just get a day in lieu (so basically i'm getting double time, but get half the cash now and half later)
thing that sucks is with my old company we used to get paid for christmas day (even though we are closed) - but we have new owners and our contracts have changed.. it sucks

We got :

Xmas Day - Double time and 1/4.
Boxing Day - Double time (sunday rates)
27th - Double time and a half
28th - Double time and a half
New Years - Double time and a half
3rd - Double time and a half.

If you're permanent but not rostered on any given public holiday, you're paid the base rate instead.
