Just because we live in this law and order society most of us would never act on such impulses. We also have education and other factors that supress our animalistic urges.

But If society broke down I gurantee you you'll be seeing many more Dennis Furgesons.

Well when cigarettes are outlawed in a few decades i'm sure we'll be doing that...i don't see it happening to alcohol though for a long time... Drugs however are currently illegal and most cause serious short/long term damage thus people who allow others to take them should be punished harshly.

SBS just interviewed a criminal psychologist who said pedophiles his age are unlikely to reoffend anyway...especially when half the bloody country is talking about him.

Ah well the media circus will hopefully make people more aware of active pedophiles who are actually a threat to children.

But something doesn't become immoral simply because it is illegal, nor does it cease to be immoral if it is made legal. After all, if murder was made legal, surely murder would still be morally wrong.

Currently more people die from alcohol and tobacco than all illegal drugs combined.
If facilitating access to substances that cause people to die is a moral evil, surely people that supply alcohol and cigarettes are also equally morally reprehensible to drug dealers.

Pedophiles are treated abhorrently by the public and media in general.

They are constantly harassed by people in the neighborhood and the media who are only out to create controversy and make people angry with stupid stories like this. Where the fuck are they going to go? As soon as they move into a new place the entire suburb has to be aware of it, and it just starts again.

Until forced euthanasia or a life sentence in solitary confinement for such people is enacted, nothing can be done. So let's just continue to victimize people who are either born with different tastes to the majority (Remind you of anyone?) or who have been victims of violent sexual abuse from their childhood/adolescence, abuse which was generally completely out of their control.
