WELL IF YOU GET BAND 5-6 FOR E1 YES. AND TOP BANDS FOR 3 SUBJECTS? IS CERTAINLY > 90... SO I JUST GUESSED 95 BECAUSE THOSE SUBJECTS ARE 1337 EXCEPT FOR STANDARD WHICH SUCKS BECAUSE EVEN ESL IS BETTER

what courses were they again? Because it really depends on the scaling, if thoese Bands were for Food Tech, IP, Standard english...it won't be 95.

that's alright, reasonable marks (no offence Minai if you think your marks are outstanding)

I am aiming at 3 band 6 and 2 band 5...

Is a band 5 in Standard same as a band 5 in Advanced since only 1% get band 5 in standard while advanced get 48%?

I think so, thats why even ESL is better than standard! no offense! standard sucks! you do almost the same work as adv (thats what ive heard) and you get shit marks for it, because of everyone else in the state.. ooooooh

dunno bout that jesh all depends on state average mark eg last year in adv eng state ave was 80 no1 at my school got a mark over 80 so ever1 in advance last year at my school was fucked up while in standard state mark was 69... so a mark over 75 in stan = beta than a adv mark of 75

"so a mark over 75 in stan = beta than a adv mark of 75" hell no! lets just wait for an expert to come along and explain why or why not! OK?

Nah. I don't think just because 75 in Standard is harder to get means its worth more than a 75 in Advanced.

The thing i don't really get is that if a expected Band 6 Advanced guy does Standard instead, does he get a Band 6 in it as well (assuming he studies just as hard)? Or is it too hard to get a Band 6 in Standard?

im sure u mean 75 is harder to get in advance than in standard :)
it depends on how much higher ur mark is over the state average.
but however advance is scalled higher than standard. eg
if the the state average mark in 75 in both advance and standard this year and u had a mate get 75 in different englisgh classes the one doing adv will be scalled slightly higher

Just to clarify -

The bands for English (Standard) are meant to be comparable with those of English (Advanced). The Board places the marks on the same scale (in the context of a standards-based system). Band 6 in Standard is the same as Band 6 in Advanced and so on.

NB: You can't compare bands between any other courses, just those two.
