Personal statement for UNSW (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, early entry applications are starting to open for a lot of universities, especially with UNSW recently releasing Gateway applications for certain schools.

I was wondering how important the personal statement questions actually are in the application process. From what I’ve seen, you’re usually required to answer three questions as part of the application.

Are these statements heavily considered when deciding whether you receive an offer or reduced ATAR entry into a course, or is selection mainly based on your Year 11 results, with the personal statement acting more as a formality?

I'd say they are important because I have a classmate who didn't get into a degree she wanted even if her grades were outstanding and better than her friends' who got accepted into the degree through the gateway program

I was also wondering whether it’s important to really distinguish yourself and stand out in the responses, or if it’s better to just keep things simple, and genuine

Why would the gateway program care about your marks, when after all, it's designed for people who wont get a high atar? tf

The gateway equity diversity inclusion program is for UNSW to see people beyond a number - it is literally why they make you write a personal statement. they aren't doing that for no reason bruh
