hey, was just thinking the other day, what other diseases are prevented or controlled by pesticides?

and are any of them affected by public health programs, biological controls or genetic engineering?

It's not really diseases that are controlled by pesticides, they are pests that you want to control. If you really must talk about diseases in your answer begin with how pesticides are used in crop fields, for example, to kill some sort of insect. Then you may have how this insect carries specific disease that its contact with plants can pass on.
But if you really want to do it that way you should search for an example.
In general terms, pesticides can control disease from spreading as it kills the hosts.
