89 at syd?

rekon its still a strong career? :\

may of been 20 years ago. but now you need at least $2-5million to buy a pharmacy. after you make interest repayments, it just aint worth it. only people making money are pre-existing owners who bought in 20 years ago and have the capital to buy more pharmacy. end of day you will end up working for one of those people.

Agreed that sure looks like more supply coming on .
However it is still top of my UAC list cos want to do something in treating sick persons to get better but not specialise in a small area eg optom, dentistry, nutrition etc. I had looked at Trad Chn Med at UTS ..... I am sure there is something good in TCM but want to know the hard science of disease and treatment.
If anybody can tell me of any other course in health that is looks broadly at a person's health, let me know please (apart from MBBS degree).

for another view on pharmacy, this is a great post from lala2, a 4th yr student at USyd with useful replies in the thread

I applied for B pharm 2010 for CSU Orange through the UAC . I got a call earlier this week to attend an interview at Orange in 1st week of Dec. The CSU person said 30 mins for interview, 3 panel members. A letter will arrive next week confirming date , time etc.

With ~45 expected to enrol in Orange , 15 interviews a day, the panel will have 4 full days of interview work if they interview 60 persons for the 45 places ....umm .... will they ditch the interview after a few years......
did they call your home phone or did they call your mobile? i don't answer my home phone so i don't want to be msising out :O

really not sure how CSU can fill the numbers. put it this way at usyd students with 89uai got in. so really CSU would only attact those students who have a UAI of 80-89.

thats a pretty small range of students to recruit from....

then take away those students who would choose pharmacy as a last minute change, or those who didnt get in thier application forms in at a riduculously early closing date, then i suspect in 2010 the cut-off for pharm at CSU would really drop, not to mention the quality of candidates.
Actually, CSU does attact 90+ students, so really you're wrong :)

I got my interview letter this week , it said that CSU was looking at a cut-off of 85 ATAR this yr for pharmacy, o'wise will not get an offer even if interview goes well.
