I figured in 5.5-6.5 years I could get a PhD in economics ( single degree- masters - PhD

Is this pointless??? I love the subject but wanna get in the workForce

My other one I was looking at was economics and applied finance degree 4yrs

What are pros and cons of both

Why would want to do a PhD for? Many aren't even doing the Honours degree.

Not necessarily. I think it's best you reconsider it 3 to 4 years from now when you have a better background to decide.

I posted a comment on another thread on the doctoral program (26th April 11 ?)

You'll only generally find that PhDs are useful as scientific researchers, lecturers, head of schools etc.

Some jobs high up in the reserve bank require a PhD apparently.

But seriously man, it's a little early to start thinking about that you're only in year 11.

If you're going to do Economics, go to Sydney, UNSW, or Macq.
