Just out of curiosity, are picture books an accepted medium?

I know it isn't listed in the syllabus but I would like to know for sure :E

(Think of picture books like 'Belonging' by Jeannie Baker or 'The Arrival' by Shaun Tan)

A girl from my school tried to do a picture book but the Board of Studies didn't allow it. So unless the rules have changed, I don't think so.

And once again, no.

The Extension 2 course is a literary course, not an artistic one...

^ Yeh but it's telling a story through a series of pictures :p

In English Advance we actually studied these two picture books for a week to grasp the meaning of belonging lol.

Ahh... what a let down lol. I can do an animation though right :X?

There's a difference between literary and visual representation.

It's a main part of the advanced/general courses though.

What kind of animation?

^ A short animation :E

Y'know, like those you see in those short film (animation) festivals, but obviously with some sort of concept or meaning behind it relating to the guidelines of what we have to do... *shrugs*

I disagree. How can you have a medium of script writing if there is no artistic element to it? Theatre is art, and through visual representations you can show deptic the same (if not, even stronger) themes. Extension 2 is all about art! Just not in the traditional sense of the word - we're not talkin' the mona lisa. However I do understand what you mean - if they were going to mark you on your skills as painter or sketch artist (whatever fancy name they're given), it would be no different to VA.

Ooh. Just out of curiosity, do you know what mark he got?

Might consider that as an opinion for my MW if I can get good marks using that medium :X

I know you. Hehe

Anyways, I don't believe you are permitted to use picture books as an appropriate medium for EE2. With regards to graphic novels, I think you should check that up with Head Teacher English for accurate information.

(I don't intentionally mean to reiterate what you already know).
