sumthing like a NetBIOS Browsing thingo..so i typed that into a virus search on the antiviurs site n it came up with a trojan or worm thing...m i screwed?
Do a full system scan find which file it is and either let the antivirus program fix it up or delete the file (but make sure it isnt a system file) and trojans just allow other people to enter your computer nothing much.

How about no?

Seriously, just pisses me off when people just "copy 'n' paste" with out any reference. A simple link or quote from the site is sufficient.
well if I sent u the entire semester's work it wouldn't be 'copy n paste'
you would know the reference too!

CCNA Semester 1 covers the basics of computer networks.
and PING is one of them.
It explains it in simple, complex and graphical forms.

So why are you telling me this?

I get the feeling you misunderstood one of my posts.

You would need to tell us what firewall software you're using. A firewall is a program that controls access to your computer from other computers over networks like the Internet. Are you using the firewall that comes with Windows XP? Does your dail-up/cable/ADSL modem connect right into your computer (follow the cable to the back of your box), or do you have a network cable (probably coloured blue, called CAT-5) leading to the modem?

Go to this website and click the Scan Now button:
http://scan.sygatetech.com/prestealthscan.html

It will scan your computer for any ports that are open. If any of the listed ports are "OPEN" you don't have to worry, but they should be closed to prevent someone from trying to connect to your computer through them.
You should only be concerned about the NetBIOS and PROXY ports.
