Im currently doing 4u maths and things aren't going so well.

Can anyone help with the following question:

"Is it better to do ok in 4u or really well in 2u & 3u?"

1st assess: 89%
2nd assess: 41%

i wouldn't know, too many factors.

school, ranking, difficulty of your exam.

just know that with 4unit, if you're struggling, there will be alot of people struggling too (unless you're struggling with basic integration etc., that's a bigger problem).

keep at it and don't stop trying

it all depends on how bad you think you will go in 4u.

remember that if you do 4u you get an extra unit of maths.. which means if you do okay at it it will contribute more.. so instead of 40+40+40, you can get 40+40+40+40.

then again.. if you are really stugling at 4u, and you think you could do better at 2u+3u then drop down.

i started doing 4u but i was doing crap so i droped down. the main reason why i droped down is because i found the 2u/3u topics easier than the 4u ones, hence i could do better by doing 2u/3u than doing 3u/4u.

And it depends on what your marks are like in 2 and 3 unit. Like if you are getting 100% in 2 unit, it would probably be better for you to drop down, but if you are doing well but not amazing 4 unit may be better.

Also how are the other people in your 4 unit class going. Your rank and the difficulty of your internal assesments should also affect your decision.

ye if say your rank is in the middle 3rd of the grade, i would just work hard at it to make the top 3rd. that way you will be boosted slightly as well as a pretty good mark. in the end for 4U it is the trial and the hsc that matters the most and just to work towards those.

to be honest, the best person you can probably ask is your maths teacher, coz they're going to have the best idea of how you're going to go in your hsc.

also, have you done the 2u assessments?
