Its seen as rebellious and they probably get a high just because they're doing something illegal (on top of the high they get from the drugs ), there's a lot of peer pressure - if a few of your friends get into it you're more likely to follow just to avoid seeming "uncool". I think boredom has a lot to do with it as well and a fair few kids probably use drugs as a way to deal with stress etc.
