Not open about sex, open about pedophilia. In time it would become socially acceptable for a 35 yo to sex a young teen, look at the patterns of history and what happens when major changes to the law are made, society as a whole changes
Nobody's saying we should lower the age of consent below 16/17 - they're saying arbitrary age limits should be critically assessed occasionally.

Your original post suggested that such critical assessment is somehow dangerous.

What? Wow dude, the age of consent doesn't have anything to do with pregnancy rates.

EDIT: What Riet said. Also I love how you automatically assume it's the FEMALES who are the only "slurries" underage. Takes two to tango.
i was referring to pregnant teens

it is in some respects, what happens when you start questions the laws that form the very foundation of society?

If they're good laws, nothing. If they're archaic laws, they'll get changed.

Do not marginalise thought.

I'm a right wing nutcase. :uhhuh: Yeah.

Well, I support nuclear power, export of uranium, oil production and use, car use, economic growth at all costs, tight immigration policies for some minorities and gun ownership. I'm all for women staying at home and taking care of the family/kids (as opposed to a single mom getting handouts because of her poor decisions).

On the other hand, I do not support religion and would prefer a secular (in moral terms) society.

I think you'll find that most people are a mix of everything. Although there are always people that won't drive a car because it will hurt mother nature.

i disagree, slippery slope, and you are basically opening the gates for pedophiles.Victims will become younger and younger etc. also, increased pregnancy at younger age - slurries living off centre link etc etc there are so many points against this i don't have the intention of listing them all

open minded to legalizing drugs?

again, slippery slope, why not legalize them all? pot is a gateway drug no arguments about it, legalizing it just makes it appear to be morally right on the eyes of kids so more people will grow up doing it. When mandatory minimum sentences were removed the government promised that crims would still get harsh sentences...look whats happening now. So with your argument on regulating supply, thats an air head argument that will never play out in reality.

open minded to letting minorities rape this great country?

i cbf i could writ ea book on this, lets just say we are catering to the minorities thanks to the bureaucrats
I don't think my point is getting across. We could sit here all day, pointing out the pros and cons of these issues. But this isn't what I am trying to get across.

I was not advocating those issues you put forward, I was just making the point that it is not clean cut whether or not these issues are good or bad.

So let me put it this way:
Being open minded doesn't mean you endorse these viewpoints. It just means you are able to look at an issue from several different view points in order to make a more informed decision.

Do you still regard open mindedness as a negative thing?

I don't care. Those foetuses had fathers, but I don't see you complaining about them directly.

well my point is that my informed decision is those things i listed as examples are bad. My interpretation of open-mindedness is general acceptance

It appears you are just a racist above all who will compromise on other views to suit those racist attitudes.

ok, that's good (even though it's a direct contradiction to your original statement).

So, say there was evidence put forward that showed that by legalizing some drugs there would be a reduction in drug-related deaths.

Say there was evidence put forward that suggested that looser immigration policies would benefit our economy.

Would you be willing to change your view on these issues?

We live in a society founded on christian values. Un-christian behaviour, like fornication outside of a heterosexual marriage should be illegal. Minorities who don't want to adopt these values should be deported.

legalizing drugs may work ST but in the LT it will lead to more deaths.
