Never???

Not even Mandrake? :D
It's really a piece of cake,

but I prefer Windows because I've grown up with it.
(I have grown up around Macs, but the older PowerMacs and system 8/9 -- I've used X a few times, but I'm not at that "pro" level when it comes to OSX)

u wanna know how long ive used a PC? i only started in the beginning of yr 10 and up until now

i do believe ive learnt alot in comparison to some people whos touched a computer since they were 5 lol

i never knew wat a computer was till the end of yr 9, i heard about ICQ, and yea the hype lol

ahh well

nah im so afraid Linux's bootloaded (lilo) will fuck up my entire MBR,and when i erase the linux partition it will render my windows instalation as not-bootable

woh, now I've heard everything :)

I'm the type you've described, who has "touched a computer since they were 5" -- in effect, but I've been using them for about 10 years (3.11 days and the old Apple's). I still had my 486DX100 up until a few years ago, running Windows 95!

Yeah, I would say that you've learnt heaps in comparison to most. (You've never known what a computer was until the Year 2000? Didn't you have computer-sessions in Years 5-6, or Internet usage in the 96-97 boom?).

Oh well, it doesn't matter.

It's good to hear that you've learnt heaps in a reasonably short amount of time. :)

Well in my most unbiassed oppinion, id have to say NEVER go for redhat. I used to use it back when they had their 6.xx versions untill their 8.0 version which turned crap. It slowed the computer down and had allot of memory problems. So i swapped to slackware 9.0 and havent looked back since. Fast, stable and smooth compared to deadrat! :D I've also tried mandrake which is meant to be another nebie friendly OS which is heaps better than redhat. So if u want to try out linux, go for mandrake. Debian is another great OS which i havent tried. The top 2 linux dirstros i belive for stability and performace are slackware and debian. I will try out debian soon after the stupid HSC, lo. :p

First vote for MacOS!!

MacOSX is definately the best (and I have used Windows, MacOS and Linux).

A must to use it in conjunction with its UNIX core (much like a Linux "xterm").

Which uni has "Computer Systems Enginnering"? If you mean Computer Engineering then the main difference is hardware. Comp Eng has a 1/4 hardware (electrical and telecom engineering) component, whereas Soft Eng has a 1/4 Commerce component ...

Ok so thats the only difference between SE and CE in UNSW? Nothing more?

Thanks for your reply btw. Who does computer systems engineering at UTS?
