the way to remember which is which...serial is the male(cos it has "sticks" while parallel has the "holes" )

cable modem

PS/2:

mouse
keyboard

A PS/2 port, sometimes called a mouse port, was developed by IBM. It is used to connect a computer mouse or keyboard. Most computers come with 2 PS/2 ports. Sometimes web cames piggyback on the ports in conjunction with parallel port.
