Hey, I was just wondering which textbook is recommended for the Prelim Ancient History course. We have been told to buy Unlcoking the Past - Preliminary. Lawless et al but it was published in 1996 does that by any chance matter like would it be better to have a book thast been updated according to the syllabus. Some of my friends at other schools have been told to buy Antiquity 1 - is there any difference?
Any help would be greatly appreciated:)

My advice is don't worry about it. We used Unlocking the Past for preliminary and it's perfectly fine - especially since the Preliminary course is pretty much totally non-specified in the syllabus, so the teacher is really in charge of designing what you do, within parameters. This might change from teacher to teacher, but it's probably best for you just to buy what the school recommends.

That said, if you want more background, different explanations, or more options for revision, there can't be any harm in buying another textbook as well.
