I have an assessment due Tuesday, and I'm pulling my hair out. I have to write an essay on: "Individual Australian citizens are protected by the law. To ensure the continued protection of the individual it is sometimes necessary to change the law." I have to discuss the statement making refrence to cases and acts to support my arguement.

I don't even know where to begin?!?! So far I have a few points....
* What/Who is an Australian citizen?
* How does the law protect us?
*What rights do we have?
* Does the law sometimes fail to protect us? Why? Why not?
* Explain how the law is changed.

I don't know what to do next. Or where to get info from. Has anyone done a similar assessment and can give me some pointers?
