Can someone provide details about any prizes that are awarded based on the HSC?

Specifically, the Premier's Award (when are you informed? where is the ceremony? is the Premier actually there? what do you actually get? does English have to count in the ten units above 90?) and the other award that you get (IIRC) $2000 for ... (similar information for this one too ... and does it even exist?)

Perhaps people who have won these awards in the past, and so know exactly what they're talking about, would be the best equipped to answer.

English doesn't have to be in your best 10 units.

the premier's award doesn't involve any money....u just get an award and have lunch with Bob Carr....it's award to people with band 6 in 10 or more units (doesn't have to include English)....a guy who got 99.85 in 2003 told me....so it's very accurate

The $2000 cash bonus is associated with the Australian Students Prize (ASP).

It's given to the "top" 500 students in Australia. It is typically awarded first to the Olympiad winners and then to the residual HSC/VCE/etc top performers. For the 2002 HSC, it went to anyone who scored 93+ in 10 or more courses.

They generally do, with the top universities usually providing automatic scholarships to those achieving 99.95 and 100.
