can someone please tell me what pro rata means? like what is $31700 pro rata...

Pro rata means in proportion to. If the salary is $31,700 per annum and you work 6 months, you get paid half of the yearly salary. If its a contract, they tend to work out a daily or hourly pro rata rate and pay you progressively.
