hiya,

I am analysing The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith for my related text (to do with belonging) and was wondering what the purpose is. It seems that it could be to retell the events of Jimmy Governer or something else.
Any ideas?

thanks

Search the net for summaries. Also, try to include the theme of belonging in your purpose.

Wikipedia suggests the story is written through the eyes of an exploited Aborigine. So why not say:

The purpose evident in 'The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith" is to develop sympathy for an exploited Aborigine who fails to belong to the dominant hegemony/culture. This is due to racial differences and the prejudices which result.
