i think your talking about 9a lucy.

i was thinking the same thing, i got a but not b and i know it was soemthign stupid. but then again i had about 5 mins to do q10

If you're talking about 10)a)i) and ii), here's the connection;

The integral of 1/x is Lnx, between a and 3a comes out to Ln3 (using log laws). The estimation using the simpsons rule was for the same area (a to 3a), hence Ln3 is approximately equal to 10/9.

Stupidest question 10 I've ever seen. Question 9 was harder.

Hey, what was the answer for q10 part a (i)....were you meant to get liek a quadratic?
I was going sweet until halfway thru q9...goddamit.

if u did it right, 10a)i) should be 10/9, hence the link to the next question

A = a/3 (1/a + 1/3a + 4(1/2a))
= a/3 (1/a + 1/3a + 2/a)
= 1/3 + 1/9 + 2/3
= 10/9
