question about hsc exam (1 Viewer)

sorry i didn't know where to post this. hope this space is okay.

i just have a couple of questions regarding the hsc exam and the writing booklets.

Can you use the first page of the writing booklet to do an essay plan? if so, do you just clearly label that it's your plan?

Also, if you want the examiner to ignore a page of writing or something (i always do a draft copy for one part of my latin exam), do you just draw a cross through it?

Do you get spare paper in the exam?

sorry if these seem like really minor questions. I just want to be prepared and not freak out in the exam if i don't know what to do.

The pages in the writing booklets only have lines on one side. Anything you write on the unlined pages wont be marked, so do plans and stuff on the unlined pages

Always write it down on the lined paper, whether its a plan or not.

There may be something you missed out writing in your essay but its in your plan.
The marker can only mark whats on the paper.

Why wouldn't you show the marker you have done a page of working out?

Its like saying, oh i won't show the working out for a mathematics question. You may get marks for the working out even though your answer may be completely wrong.
Also you can always ask for more paper.

I think 32 booklets would be a little bit of an exageration.

I was told for maths that the teachers still mark the unlined paper. I don't know about English but I don't see why not.

And the scrap A4 paper is substituted with every unlined page on the booklet. I think it's just so they want to see EVERYTHING you did in the exam, maybe to better understand your response etc.

they still mark whats on the unlined pages. they mark anything that they can read - so dont scribble out mistakes - just put a line through it - if they can read it, it will be considered.

sorry, just one more question: are you allowed to write on the exam paper?

You can write on the exam paper as you take it with you when you leave the exam room.

There may be parts of the paper that have to be handed in e.g. Modern and Ancient History core questions are asked on yellow pages which get handed in but the pink paper is your to keep.
