Question about integrations (1 Viewer)

Assuming they don't tell you which method to use.
Say you get an integration question, but there would be more than one way of finding the answer, and you do it differently from what they wanted, would you be marked wrong?

no...well at least i wouldnt think so...as long as u got the final answer

Nope. Unless they say something like 'hence find...'
Thats why they write 'hence or otherwise find' for those smart people with a quicker method.

if you've done enough integration practice Q's you'll automaticlaly know which method to use.

most of the time doing exam papers, i've found them pretty dead obvious which method to use. but our teacher drilled us with integrals.

Actaully i think it's for the poorer students who can't see the connection between the two parts. It will almost always be quicker to use the last part instead of starting from scratch.
