I did a B Comm (Social Inquiry) this year at UTS and hated almost every minute of it. I've been looking at Socio-Legal and it seems very interesting, but subject names like " * SCLG2608 Social Construction of Difference * SCLG2618 Violence, Imaginaries and Symbolic Power" make me worry that this degree may have some of the wanky postmodern/ philosophy/ ethnographic stuff I loathe so much.

Is it possible to choose only subjects with fairly strong grounding in real life issues?
