Hi guys! I just have a quick question about the different rounds of applications and would appreciate some advice.

My dream course is arts/law at UNSW, and my absolute backup is arts at UNSW.
Say that I was to remove arts at UNSW from my preferences, and I didn’t make any of my preferences round 1 (oof). If I added it to my preferences in round 2, are my chances of getting in low? My atar is much above the requirement, but I’m anxious it will be full in the first round.

Each degree will have a number of available places in it - for b. arts that will be huge. In theory, it could fill up and you miss out. I would guess that this is very unlikely, but truth be told I don't know.

I'm guessing you have 5 courses that you want more than b. arts UNSW? If not then just put it in to be safe. If you do have 5 courses preferred over it, it gets a bit tricky

Look at your lower preferences - is your selection rank (atar + bonus points) definitely enough to get into them? In this case don't worry about putting b. arts as a backup. If, for example all of your courses (other than b. arts) have atars above what u got, then its worth considering removing one and adding b. arts in fifth preference just for peace of mind and to ensure you have an offer. Really depends on. your specific situation. Feel free to share the specifics of your situation if you want more specific advice, but I hope that helps anyway.
