Do what you want to do. Don't choose a subject based on scaling. If you do well enough in Business Studies, then you'll be fine. Don't forget that by doing a high scaling subject, you are not guaranteed a high mark. You actually have to do well in the subject.

I personally prefer Physics, however it's highly recommended you study Maths (not General) or even better Maths Extension 1 if you want to take on Physics.
Otherwise stick with your current course if you want to or you don't have a strong mathematical background.

definitely change - general maths is not going to equip you with the skills to feel confident and do well in physics. You'll end up spending a lot of your physics lessons grappling with the maths rather than learning the coursework. The one guy in our physics class who did general dropped physics at the end of yr11.

If you do well (by well i mean a good band 5 or a band 6) in a "low scaling" subject your uai is going to be much better than if you went poorly in a "high scaling" subject. If you did crap, no amount of scaling is going to change anything.

So I highly recommend changing to business studies.

Hey
Thanks for the help

Well frankly...I think doing Biology and Physics together is abit 2 much for me...though i do General maths but I have a good Mathematical background..

Also I think ill do good in Business Studies because i did Commerce in years 9 & 10 and I got mid 80s..

So yea im really confused about it..

Im thinking of changing Physics to Business studies but also changing General Maths to Maths Standard (which is called advanced in some schools i think)..just to have a good high scaling subject instead of Physics...

The scaling in Maths Advanced is negligible. If you want to play the scaling game, take up a distinction course, or something incredibly useless, IMO, Classcial Greek Extension/Latin, etc.

Haha, you always recommend those distinction courses.

I'd do physics, but I'm completely biased towards the Sciences.

Should've seen me in Chemistry today...completely hyperventilating 'cause we were getting textbooks + being taught by the head teacher. I freaked the whole class out. =(

This is hard for me to say, but in your best interests - you should pick the one you're better at (I reckon it's too early to know) but seriously, Physics scales well but that'll mean nothing if you do badly in it. On the other hand, if you do Business Studies and you enjoy it and are interested in it and you perform well, then it's more favourable towards your UAI.

Many students who do physics do general maths, or even no maths. If you are willing to do a little work then you should be able to cope with physics. But if you are more interested in business studies then go for it :) You should choose the subject you are interested in it will be more enjoyable and interesting for you.
One thing for sure, physicists should be treated with utmost respect.
